Thanks from Camp Linden

Thanks to our recent plant sale fundraiser, we were able to donate a portion of the proceeds to Camp Linden, which serves underprivileged children from Philadelphia by bringing them to West Chester to enjoy the outdoors. We recently received the following thank you note from Jeffrey Dubb at the camp:

Dear Linda,
Thank you, and all of the East Bradford Democrats, for your wonderful gift of $300 (on 5/28) to Camp Linden. Camp starts on July 1st and goes for six weeks. Please feel free for any of you to come visit and see your donation at work. A special thank you to Deb Hodies for putting this together!

Sincerely,
Jeffrey

Republican East Bradford Supervisors Trying to Suppress the Vote

The picture, listed below, is from the Fall 2012 edition of the East Bradford township newsletter that was recently mailed. The letter states that all voters will need to bring a photo ID to the polls on election. That is not true because last Tuesday, October 2nd, Judge Robert Simpson struck down Pennsylvania’s Voter ID Law that forced voters to show ID when voting. Judge Simpson ruled that authorities had not done enough to ensure voters have access to photograhpic identification. This law affected the poor, the elderly, and minorities who cannot afford or are able to obtain a proper ID. The original court case was brought against the state of Pennsylvania back in July. The state Pennsylvania signed a stipulation agreement with the lawyers for the plaintiffs which acknowledges “there have been no investigations or prosecutions of in-person voter fraud in Pennsylvania; and the parties do not have direct personal knowledge of any such investigations or prosecutions in other states.” So if this is no longer the law, than why are the Republican East Bradford Supervisors still trying to suppress the vote? Here is the proof!

Important Voter and Registration Information

How do I register to vote?

Download the OnlineVoterRegFormBlank

Absentee Voting

For info on Absentee Voting and to download the application form, click here. Qualifying reasons include illness and planning to be out of town. If on the form you put either a PA driver’s license number or PennDOT ID number, or else the last 4 digits of your social security number, you don’t need to submit a copy of a photo ID to vote absentee. There is also an emergency procedure for those taken ill after the normal absentee deadline.

Voter ID – Not Required

With the recent ruling postponing the restrictive voter identification requirements no registered voter will be turned away at the poll for lack of photo ID.

If you need help or more information with any of the above forms please contact your East Bradford committee person.
